About me
from a biographical point of view...
I was born in Syracuse, NY and grew up in Rochester, NY with my mother, father and two older brothers. My childhood was not what you would call conventional, but I survived, and brought some good stories with me. After finishing high school in three years, I traveled in Europe for six months with my freshly divorced mother (one of my great regrets in life is that I didn't keep a journal of that trip...). Four years of college followed during which I studied, played, and determined that life is indeed Good. In the years after college I moved around a bit: Colorado, San Francisco, England, and then finally landed in Virgina, where I've made my home since 1980.
from a professional point of view...
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare, specializing in Mental Health, from Stony Brook University in 1976. I subsequently received a Master’s degree in Waldorf Early Childhood Education from Sunbridge College in 2006. I have also written many articles and given numerous talks on a wide variety of issues related to parenting and self-development.
from a personal point of view...
I have spent my adult life finding ways to turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones. Having navigated through difficulties with a deeply enquiring mind, I have come to the conclusion that everything that happens to us offers an opportunity for growth. I have chosen to serve others through conscious parenting and Waldorf teaching, and now, by offering my insights in book-form.
